Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is a state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, nearly invisible aligners to gradually move and reposition your teeth.

Instead of relying on wires, brackets, and rubber bands, Invisalign uses a thermoplastic known as SmartTrack®. SmartTrack is FDA approved and free of BPS, BPA, latex, and gluten. As a result, it’s perfect for all types of people, including those with allergies.

If you regularly find yourself feeling self-conscious about the position or alignment of your teeth, request an Invisalign consultation with Dr. Safaie today.

What types of issues can Invisalign treat?

Dr. Safaie usually prescribes Invisalign to address mild and moderate orthodontic issues. Some common problems Invisalign corrects include:

  • Overcrowding
  • Misalignments
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Underbite
  • Overbite

You might also benefit from orthodontic treatment with Invisalign if you have gaps or spaces between your teeth.

How does Invisalign treatment work?

Invisalign treatment begins with a one-on-one consultation at Dr. Masood Safaie. During this appointment, Dr. Safaie conducts an oral exam and asks you about your goals for treatment. He also takes a series of digital impressions and uploads them to a computer.

Afterward, Dr. Safaie uses a software program to map out the step-by-step transformation of your smile. Once he approves your plan, he sends your impressions to a laboratory that manufactures your first set of aligners.

How long will it take to see results from Invisalign treatment?

The length of Invisalign treatment varies from person to person and depends on the issues you’re trying to correct. Most people achieve their desired results in 12-18 months.

However, it’s important you follow Dr. Safaie’s instructions. Wear your aligners 20-22 hours each day and make sure to attend all of your follow-up appointments. The more dedicated you are to treatment, the sooner you’ll see a change in your smile.

How do I care for my Invisalign aligners?

It’s important to keep your Invisalign aligners clean and free of food debris and tartar. To do this, rinse your aligners with cool tap water a few times each day.

You should also brush your aligners with toothpaste and a soft-bristle toothbrush before going to bed at night. For more thorough cleaning, ask Dr. Safaie about the Invisalign Cleaning System.
